History

Kew Gardens Tennis Club prides itself in serving the Beach community for over 50 years at its current location, catering to both young and old – many members have made the transition from juniors to seniors on the very same courts!

Over the years, a number of changes have occurred at Kew Gardens. New lights were installed in1993. The five north courts were converted to clay courts in the year 2000. Many thanks to longtime member Wendy Davies and her clay court committee for undertaking this project and to the 1999/2000 Board members for their farsightedness.

The clubhouse, built in 1960, has undergone major renovations this year, including a complete overhaul of the washrooms, kitchen, a new head pro/business office, and a secondary entrance. The makeover has been topped off with a fresh coat of paint. The entire clubhouse now meest the accessibility standards set out by the City of Toronto. Construction was not complete until May, 2012, but had only minor impact on the opening of the courts and the start of the 2012 season.

Over the years, Kew Gardens has developed many tennis stars at both the junior and senior levels. Our members have competed in provincial, NCAA, national and international tournaments. We are proud to have a number of provincial and national champions call Kew Gardens home.
